Thanksgiving

This year we decided to host Thanksgiving for the first time. It was quite a challenge coordinating schedules and passing out cooking assignments but everything turned out amazing in the end. My biggest challenge was to cook the turkey.

A friend of mine from work suggested that I brine the turkey. So I looked up how to do this and decided to give it a try. Dave and I put the turkey and brine in a bucket and back in the fridge to soak for the night.

Here is my turkey when I put it in the oven at 5:30 a.m.

It took a lot longer to cook than I expected but 7 1/2 hours later it was done!

The turkey was excellent and very very moist (thanks for the suggestion Richard!). I also had a chance to make deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, and a lemon meringue pie. I loved playing cook and hostess. 12 people is definetly the max that can comfortably fit in our home. It was such a wonderful day with family and the food was amazingly delicious.

Here are a few more photos from hosting our first turkey day, enjoy!
